Why moving air makes you feel cooler
Your skin is always giving off a little moisture. When that moisture evaporates it takes heat with it, and that is what you feel as relief. Still air sits against you and slows the whole process down; moving air carries the humid layer away and lets the next bit evaporate. The air itself is exactly the same temperature before and after — what changed is how fast your own body can shed heat into it.
That is also why the effect has a ceiling. In a closed room in the mid-90s and above, or when the air is already thick with moisture, evaporation slows down and a fan stops being the answer — for this one and for every other. Does it actually cool the air?
No, and no fan does. The EPA states it plainly: portable electric fans do not cool air, they move it around, and you feel cooler because moving air helps your sweat evaporate. A randomised trial published in 2024 measured this directly — core body temperature came out the same with and without a fan at 36°C. What this fan gives you is moving air where you are.
What is the blue light?
It is a backlight behind the air window, and that is all it is. It does not chill the air and it is not a cooling element — it is there so you can see at a glance that the fan is running. If it bothers you at night, the unit works the same with the light against the wall.
How long does the battery last?
