Will it work in my car?
Only if your car already has wired CarPlay or Android Auto from the factory. The test takes ten seconds: plug your phone in with a cable. If CarPlay or Android Auto appears on the screen, this converts it to wireless. If your screen does nothing, this adapter cannot help — you would need a head unit that adds CarPlay, which is a different purchase.
Does my phone still charge while it is connected?
No, and this is the honest downside of going wireless. The cable was doing two jobs — data and power — and the adapter only replaces the data half. It is sitting in the port your charging cable used to use. On a commute you will not notice; on a five-hour drive with navigation running, put a charger in another port.
How long does it take to connect?
Not instantly. Wireless CarPlay generally needs a few seconds after the car starts to pair and hand over — usually you are out of the driveway. If your habit is to plug in and have the screen up before you move, that changes slightly. We are describing how wireless CarPlay behaves in general, not a figure we measured in your car.
Is the connection as solid as the cable?
A cable is still the most reliable connection there is, and we are not going to claim otherwise. The adapter runs its own 5 GHz link (seller-stated) to keep maps, music and calls responsive, and for normal use most people stop thinking about it. If you want zero chance of a hiccup, keep using the cable.
Does it do Android Auto as well?
Yes — the same adapter handles wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto. It has to be paired to the phone you are using, so switching between two phones means pairing both.
Is there a subscription?
